Why Doesn't Johnny Care? by ArchiCrash Why Doesn't Johnny Care? by ArchiCrash
In a way, its too bad that Mystery Science Theater 3000 used the movie 'Time of the Apes' all the way back in season 3. Because if this had been a part of the Sci-Fi era mythos....Oh, the fun they could have had with it!

I' ve watching some episodes of Saru No Gundan which was the show they edited into Time of the Apes, and there's a part where they show a news report. The news anchor looked a bit like Professor Bobo.

Btw, I agree with your description, but most likely at the same time if they had done it during Sci-Fi era, chances are the film might not have been able to be licensed (since Sandy Frank lost the rights to his movies in 1996).

Heh. I like to think that most of the bratty kids from those movies don't make anything of their lives...

Yeah, I think if they had done in it Seasons 8-10, it would be even better. Still, it was a great episode.

Well, it'd probably be like his reaction to 'Revenge of the Creature' where Dr. Peanut said "There are monkeys in this moive" and then they all jumped around and cheered! :D

Heh. If that was a call-back, its kind of gross one...

...Although, didn't they do a joke where it turned out Mike's family married all the monkeys?

I don't know about all of them. I know Peanut married one of Mike's nieces(?)

I've heard that the Planet of the Apes sequels weren't good. It would've been awesome if they could have acquired the rights to one of those. After all they did do Revenge of the Creature which was one of the sequels to Creature of the Black Lagoon.

Yeah, but Revenge of the Creature seemd like it was aquired in a big block of movies, since I think the first 8 movies of season 8 were old black and white Universal movies... But yeah, some ape movies would have been fun to see.

Oh, I didn't realize that. Also, This Island Earth was a Universal Movie as well so that may have something to do with how they got the rights to it.

Have you read Kevin Murphy's book "A Year At the Movies"?

Nope. I've pretty much just stuck to watching them watch movies...

Although, if memory serves, Bobo did do a shout-out to it on the first "Mystery Science Theater 3000 Blockbuster Review" when he was suggesting "quality movies" Tom should have reviewed.

Hm. You're memory must be better than mine, because I barely remember anything from that special. But then, I haven't seen it since it first aired, so....

What, you want MORE writers to be traumatized by the time-code incident?
